Imbibe is a great place to visit with the whole family. We were excited to find this little strip mall addition to the Chattanooga area and have fun walking around in and around while sampling some of the local wines. Imbibe serves some excellent food and their chips and dips are to die for! We decided to stop by the tasting room for lunch and samples of the specialty wines that they offer. Here’s what we learned.
Imbibe is operated by two small wineries. Both operate under the license, but they also own most of the building and have their own tasting room. The Wailing Hippo is listed as one of the official suppliers of Chardonnay wines in Tennessee. It has four restaurants. According to the information provided by the Imbibe Chattanooga-Wine Merchants, these four restaurants serve over one hundred and twenty different wines on an average day. The Imbibe official wine tasting website claims that they are the largest retailer of Chardonnay wines in Tennessee.
If you go to the Imbibe tasting room, you will notice that they are set up in a large conference room. There are many different areas to choose from when you walk in the door. Most of the wines are displayed on the main bar with the description next to them. You can then select what you’d like to have served to you directly.
As soon as we walked in we were immediately greeted by a very friendly wine merchant who took our order and was very polite. He informed us that he could only serve us the Chardonnay and that he didn’t know any other grape varieties for us to choose from. He also referred us to the wine tasting room, which was located next to the main bar. There we were treated very good and the wine tasted very good.
We were recommended to try the Chardonnay as an appetizer, so we did just that. The waiter came by to take our order and brought a bottle of wine to us with a wonderful menu. He informed us that the Chardonnay we were drinking was from the estate of the Cheval wine maker. He was right, it was a real estate-owned estate vineyard. We were also shown some very delicious cheese appetizers that were available during the week that we visited. They offered several choices, which was a lot of fun for us to try.
Overall we had an enjoyable experience at the Imbibe Chattanooga-Wine Merchants.
